Renovation isn’t an easy task from a distance but we had the challenge of renovating an apartment for some American clients who had a family apartment for over 40 years. It was well in need of upgrading and so myself and my team were tasked with the work.
It required electrical and plumbing work, new bathroom, kitchen, new windows and shutters, re-tile to all floors, new internal doors and front door, painting inside and out, air conditioning and furniture.
Given a budget and a colour guide we began with all the selection work – sanitary ware, kitchen, tiles and furntiure was done via video calls, lots of photos and vidoes back and forth until our clients were happy with all the selections.
Our construction team provided a quote for the work along with the windows/ shutters and materials which our clients were happy with.
Once the work started we sent photos and videos regularly and had video calls from the apartment so that they could see for themselves the progress.
The transformation is amazing, it was finished in May and in June when our clients visited they were over the moon with the result.
If having a pandemic has taught us one thing it’s that the use of virtual viewings and video calls can be a distinct advantage in the world of real estate and property and project management. Using it to it’s advantage has become an asset. Having faith in the team that you select to carry out the work is also important and I have collaborated with my team for around 14 years so know and trust them wholeheartedly.
With the different types of renovation from upgrading a newer property to renovation of an old farmhouse it can, at first thought, be daunting. Despite the sometimes not so favourable stories out there , there are also many success stories. If it is something that has been your dream then seek out people who have had a positive experience. Use reputable companies that can give you clients whom you can speak to ask about their experiences. Ask lots of questions and to see examples of work.
