The residence permit for elective residence is issued in four distinct
hypothesis:
A) to a foreign citizen holding an entry visa for residence elective – The visa for elective residence allows entry to Italy for the purposes of the stay, to the foreigner who intends to settle in our country and who demonstrate that they have sufficient resources to support themselves without exercising any work activity.
The applicant must also demonstrate:
the availability of a house to be elected as a residence;

Once the foreigner has made regular entry into Italy, he must, within 8 days, submit a specific request for a residence permit.
B) to the foreign citizen holding a residence permit for work subordinate, autonomous or family reasons, by way of conversion of the residence permit – The residence permit for elective residence can be issued, in the process of transformation, to a foreign citizen who already holds a residence permit for subordinate work, self-employment, family reasons, when the applicant ceases to work and becomes the owner of a pension (old age, invalidity, social …) or annuities or annuities.
The foreigner must demonstrate that he can independently maintain himself in Italy without carrying out any work activity, as in possession of adequate financial capabilities.
The residence permit for elective residence can also be issued:
to the cohabiting spouse,
to minor children,
to adult cohabiting and dependent children and dependent cohabiting parents, always on demonstration of sufficient economic resources.

DURATION, RENEWAL AND REVOCATION.
The duration of the visa is one year, renewable in Italy at the Police Headquarters territorially competent, provided that the original requirements continue to be maintained over time.
