You can apply for a Colombian visa while being in the country in which you have citizenship or legal residence, or you could do it from Colombia.
No, when applying for a Colombian visa it is a requirement to stay in the country where you submitted your application until your visa process is completed, but If you leave such country while your visa is under process, it could be requested or non admitted
Once we have all the required documentation ready for submission, the visa process typically takes between 15 and 30 days. However, the processing time may extend if the ministry requests additional information. Plan ahead and apply for your visa in advance to avoid any delays.
If you overstay in Colombia, “Migración Colombia” will charge you a fine ranging from $1,625,000 COP to more than $6,000,000 COP. The amount depends on the number of days you have been in irregular status in Colombia. If you want to regularize your immigration status in the country, you can apply for a salvoconducto and will be required to pay the fine. If you plan to leave the country and want to regularize your immigration status, you will also be required to have a “salvoconducto” and pay the corresponding fine. Not paying the fine could prevent you from entering the country and obtaining future visas. It is recommended to apply for a Salvoconducto in advance to avoid any problems on the day of your trip.
