You could craft an epic weekend for them, I am sure. Now, imagine you could tap into information like that for every city you visit. Turns out, there is a brand new platform where you can easily access guides for hundreds of cities worldwide written by expats and locals called, Insighter Trips.
Except there are not hundreds of guides . . . not yet. We need your help as expats living around the world or locals living in cities or cool regions back home. Guides are welcome from every corner of the planet. You can easily open a store on Insightertrips.com (multivendor marketplace), and sell digital travel guides for any city you know well. Think cities you live in or have lived in or places you visit frequently. For example, you go to San Juan every winter.
Now, don’t get intimidated by this. You don’t have to be a writer, and you don’t have to write a lot. The way I see it, there are two options. Option one, you can write an itinerary. For example, you have a guide called, How to Spend a Weekend in Antwerp. Or it could be One Week In and Around Guadalajara. It could even be 24 Hours in Hong Kong for those long layovers. Feel free to present it in short, easy-to-read bullet points. Even easier, there is an AI prompt on the website, which will turn your notes into a polished travel guide if you prefer to do it that way. The customers want the information and the recommendations. They aren’t looking for amazing travel writing, nor do they want huge paragraphs to read through either. You got this!
Alternatively, and what I think is the even easier route, is to make lists. For example, Fun and Lively Restaurants in Sao Paolo, Roma for Beer Lovers, Bangin’ Cheap Eats in NYC, Family Friendly Restaurants and Attractions in Osaka, the list goes on and on. You would only need to add one sentence for each on why you like this place, order recs, etc. You could make multiple guides for one city if you just tailor them to different groups of people: families, partiers, thrill-seekers, vegetarians, winos, budget holidaymakers, travelers with motorcycles, etc.
On the website, there are example guides if you would like to see them, which were made on Canva. However, you can write a guide on Google Docs if you wish and turn it into a pdf. I would recommend adding your own pictures to your guide to make it feel more personable and authentic. However, one or two pictures will go a long way. You don’t need a picture for everything, and they are not a requirement besides one cover photo, which will be seen by potential buyers. This should be a good one since it plays a major role in convincing people to buy your guide.
In order to sell these guides, you will need to open a store on Insighter Trips, which entails setting up a profile with a picture and short description, which could include things like explaining why you are an expert on the cities you have guides for, some basic details on what is in the guide, and what kind of traveler you are (i.e. what sort of things you like to do). People may want to know a bit about you before they buy your guide. Then, upload your digital products and boom! You are open for business. It’s a low-maintenance side hustle—you work for one afternoon, then relax while sales roll in. No ongoing upkeep or customer service required.
